Case Study Nine: Andrew Cleary – 73 year old man receives compensation after being exposed to asbestos

21st January 2016 by

Healys Solicitors specialised personal injury team has helped a 73 year old man claim compensation after was exposed to asbestos in work.

Our client was employed by the General Post Office (GPO)/ Royal Mail between 1956 and 1962.  During his employment he was responsible for the maintenance of the boilers where he removed asbestos regularly from boilers and pipe work.

In later life, our client complained of a persistent cough and shortness of breath.  After attending his GP he was diagnosed with Asbestosis as a result of his tortuous asbestos exposure.

The outcome of the case

Our client decided to contact Healys Solicitors’ specialist personal injury team and one of our experienced litigators, Andrew Cleary, was able to deal with his claim.

Andrew was able to help by instructing a Consultant Physician in respiratory medicine to gather evidence on our client’s behalf.  With this evidence, Andrew was able to secure our client £25,000 in compensation in an out of court settlement.
