Probate is the general term used when dealing with the estate of a deceased person who has left a valid will. A grant of probate is the official document (incorporating a copy of the last will) which gives the executor of that will, legal authority to administer with the deceased’s estate. Alternatively, where the deceased has not left a valid will, letters of administration may be required to be obtained by the deceased’s personal representatives to enable them to collect and distribute the deceased’s assets to the persons entitled to receive them under the Rules of Intestacy (dying without a valid will).
There are a number of complexities involved in administering an estate, which is why most executors and personal representatives prefer to engage a firm of Lawyers for expert advice in this field. Healys Solicitors have the required expertise in this field and can carry out all the hard work for you, from dealing with the general administration, completion of the necessary tax forms, asset valuation and eventual distribution to the beneficiaries entitled. Healys Solicitors will take you through the whole process step-by-step, making it as painless for you as possible.
It is also possible for a will or intestacy to be varied by a deed of variation made within 2 years of death, to enable the deceased’s estate to be distributed to the family in a more tax efficient and/or fairer manner. Healys Solicitors can also advise on this aspect in the course of dealing with the family following death and in the course of administering the deceased estate.
Healys Solicitors have a list of selected business contacts from independent financial advisors, accountants and wealth managers who can enable you to take full advantage of the investment possibilities on the current market.
Healys Solicitors will consider each and every client individually, and advise each client specific to his/her personal circumstances, ensuring that they receive best advice.
