Robert Johnson, Partner and Head of Professional Negligence at Healys LLP, successfully represented a claimant win a professional negligence claim against a firm of solicitors/conveyancers.

The client had instructed a conveyancer to act for her in the purchase of a residential property. The conveyancer failed to identify that the garage and parking space were not included in the title of the property that was transferred to the client, or that this would have a detrimental impact on value when it came to the onward sale of the property. During the onward sale of the property, the client was required to mitigate by agreeing a reduction/retention of the purchase price. We were instructed to pursue the conveyancer for the client’s losses and successfully did so.

After the settlement the claimant said:

“Robert is a shrewd litigator with an innate understanding of professional negligence. From the moment I spoke with him I knew he was the person I needed to act for me. He was patient with me and explained everything I needed to know. He was accessible, courteous and understanding for which I was very grateful. He acted swiftly upon engagement and he won my case in a matter of a week or two. I cannot recommend Robert highly enough.”
