The Corporate, Commercial and Employment departments at Healys recently partnered with accountancy firm for start-ups, Novabook, to provide an educational Webinar on the legal complications of integrating and developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. David and I joined the panel, which focused on practical steps organisations can take to make the most of AI while avoiding common legal pitfalls.
During the session we explored the fast-changing AI regulatory landscape, including the need for transparency, accountability, and clear governance around AI use. The feedback from the webinar was positive with lots of conversations continued offline after the event. With that in mind I have pulled together some key highlights that the panel shared on how legal considerations differ depending on a business’s role and intended integration with AI.
Here are the key distinctions made:
A consistent theme throughout was the importance of keeping a human-in-the-loop. Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on when it comes to the adoption of AI, one things seems to be universally accepted: AI should support decision-making, not replace it, ensuring organisations remain accountable and maintain trust.
The Key takeaway from the webinar was that AI is a powerful tool for business, but it must be implemented with care, responsibility, and the law firmly in mind. AI is revolutionising every sector and we are here to support businesses taking hold of this change with both hands.
